For your information, it's good to be aware that the majority of the cPanel Hosting offers on the contemporary website hosting marketplace are furnished by a very unsubstantial business niche (as far as annual money flow is concerned) dubbed hosting reseller. Reseller website hosting is a type of a small-size business segment, which generates a great number of different web hosting brands, yet supplying one and the same solutions: mostly cPanel web hosting solutions. This is bad news for everybody. Why? Owing to the fact that at least ninety eight percent of the web hosting offerings on the whole website hosting marketplace provide absolutely the same thing: cPanel. There's no variety at all. Even the cPanel Hosting price tags are identical. Very similar. Leaving for those who require a top web hosting service almost no other web hosting platform/web hosting Control Panel alternative. Thus, there is just a single fact: out of more than two hundred thousand web hosting brands around the world, the non-cPanel based ones are less than 2, mind that one...

200,000 "Hosting companies", all cPanel-based, yet diversely dubbed

The Hosting "diversity" and the web hosting "offerings" Google presents to all of us boil down to merely one and the same thing: cPanel. Under hundreds of thousands of different website hosting brand names. Assume you are only an ordinary chap who's not very well familiar with (as the majority of us) with the site development processes and the web hosting platforms, which in fact power the different domains and sites. Are you ready to make your hosting decision? Is there any web hosting variant you can choose? Of course there is, at present there are more than 200,000 website hosting distributors in existence. Officially. Then where is the difficulty? Here's where: more than ninety eight percent of these 200k+ unique hosting brand names all over the world will give you precisely the same cPanel website hosting CP and platform, branded in a different way, with literally the same price tags! WOW! That's how huge the assortment on the present web hosting market is... Period.

The Hosting LOTTERY we are all part of

Simple arithmetic reveals that to run into a non-cPanel based web hosting service provider is a huge stroke of luck. There is a less than 1 in fifty chance that a thing like that will occur! Less than one in 50...

The advantages and disadvantages of the cPanel-based Hosting solution

Let's not be harsh with cPanel. After all, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was modish and presumably covered all website hosting business preconditions. To cut a long story short, cPanel can achieve the desired result if you have just one domain name to host. But, if you have more domain names...

Weak Side Number 1: A moronic domain name folder arrangement

If you have two or more domain names, though, be extra careful not to erase entirely the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will call each new hosted domain name, which is not the default one: an add-on domain name). The files of the add-on domain names are quite easy to delete on the web hosting server, since they all are located into the root folder of the default domain name, which is the very famous public_html folder. Each add-on domain is a folder placed inside the folder of the default domain. Like a sub-folder. Next time try not to erase the files of the add-on domain names, please. See for yourself how terrific cPanel's domain folder arrangement is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is situated)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain)

Are you becoming bewildered? We positively are!

Predicament No.2: The very same email folder arrangement

The mail folder configuration on the server is strictly the same as that of the domain names... Repeating the very same mistake twice?!? The admin boys firmly strengthen their faith in God when handling the mail folders on the electronic mail server, hoping not to bungle things up too severely.

Negative Point Number Three: A complete shortage of domain manipulation menus

Do we have to refer to the utter deficiency of a modern domain name management platform - a location where you can: register/migrate/renew/park or manage domains, change domains' Whois info, shield the Whois info, modify/set up nameservers (DNS) and DNS resource records? cPanel does not supply such a "contemporary" menu at all. That's a huge shortcoming. An unjustifiable one, we want to point out...

Problem Number Four: Numerous user login locations (minimum 2, max three)

What about the necessity for another login to use the invoicing transaction, domain and tech support management GUI? That's apart from the cPanel login credentials you've been already supplied by the cPanel-based Hosting vendor. At times, based on the billing platform (particularly intended for cPanel only) the cPanel Hosting company is availing of, the ardent customers can end up with two extra login places (1: the invoicing/domain name administration interface; 2: the trouble ticket support menu), ending up with a total of three user login places (counting cPanel).

Negative Side No.5: More than a hundred and twenty web hosting Control Panel sections to grasp... fast

cPanel presents to your attention more than a hundred and twenty departments inside the website hosting CP. It's a terrific idea to get familiar with each and every one of them. And you'd better get to know them briskly... That's way too impudent on cPanel's side.

With all due respect, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel Hosting vendors:

As far as we are aware of, it's not the year 2001, is it? Mark that one as well...
